Do you know what time it is? It’s back-to-school season! The most wonderful time of the year for many parents.

It also happens to be a great time of year for retailers too. This $828 billion dollar retail holiday typically begins in July and extends all the way into September. The only time of year that beats out back-to-school in more sales is the gift giving frenzy that defines the “winter holidays”.

And while this buying season is long, it is by no means simple. What are people buying? And when? And are shoppers influenced more by price or child preference?
