They fielded questions from maintenance, repair, and operations suppliers and put together an FAQ to uncover trending themes to help suppliers get started.

What Grainger Suppliers Want to Know About the 360° Photography Process

HOW IS THE PRICE DETERMINED? IS THERE A DISCOUNT FOR A HIGH VOLUME OF PRODUCTS?

STEVE EMBREE: The price is constructed on a per product basis. Price-per-product is determined by the product shape, size and weight, styling requirements, and quantity of products. There is a discount for a high volume of products as increased quantities afford workflow efficiencies that can significantly lower the overall price-per-product.

HOW CAN I FIND OUT THE COST OF MY PRODUCTS?

STEVE EMBREE: The best way to get an exact quote is to download our Grainger shot list Excel template at www.snap36.com/grainger360. Don’t worry if you can’t fill out every column on the template, we’ll get you going in quick, easy process tailored to you. Email the completed shot to grainger360@snap36.com and we will provide you a quote within two business days.

DOES GRAINGER CHARGE ANYTHING TO ADD 360° PRODUCT IMAGERY TO GRAINGER.COM? IS THERE A COST TO ADD 360° IMAGES ON A SUPPLIER WEBSITE?

STEVE AUGUST: Grainger does not charge any supplier for uploading and adding 360° product spins to Grainger.com.

STEVE EMBREE: No, there is no additional cost. We will always provide suppliers with two sets of 360° image files: one set is for Grainger.com and one set is for the supplier website. The supplier owns both sets of 360° image files.

WHAT IS THE TIMELINE FOR SHOOTING IMAGES?

STEVE EMBREE: We work to shoot all products and deliver the two sets of 360° image files within two weeks of finalizing the style guide details. An approximate timeline will be established during the onboarding call with the Snap36 client manager and is dependent upon when a supplier can ship products. Products received at the Snap36 are shot on a first-come, first-served basis.

IS THERE A SIZE LIMIT FOR THE PRODUCTS TO SHOOT IN 360° SPIN?

STEVE EMBREE: Snap36 can accommodate products that are 8.5’ in width and depth, 6.5’ high and 3000 lbs. However, we may be limited based on studio space. I suggest reaching out to Snap36 at grainger360@snap36.com to discuss what type of products you would like to shoot to better determine a potential solution.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO PURCHASE OR LEASE THE EQUIPMENT TO CREATE 360° IMAGES INTERNALLY?

STEVE EMBREE: Yes. Snap36 can sell or lease 360° photography equipment and software to suppliers interested in creating 360° products spins in their internal studios. We have a range of equipment stations available to fit your needs and best suit your products size and weight.

We provide installation, training, ongoing support, and the resources necessary to keep your studio efficient and equipment running smoothly.

WILL GRAINGER ACCEPT 360° PRODUCT IMAGES CREATED INTERNALLY?

STEVE AUGUST: Grainger will accept 360° product images created internally if the guidelines are accurately followed for number of images, product styling, and Grainger naming conventions. We recommend Snap36 because their team is well versed in the quality and guidelines required by Grainger.

ARE 360° PRODUCT IMAGES REQUIRED FOR ALL PRODUCTS LISTED ON GRAINGER.COM OR IS A SINGLE PRODUCT PHOTO ACCEPTABLE?

STEVE AUGUST:  Only a primary image is required for all products carried by Grainger. Although Grainger does not require 360° imagery for every product that is carried, it’s highly encouraged that a supplier explores the process with Snap36 to determine the cost of 360° product photography. As an added benefit, 360° imagery can be used to update your primary images on Grainger.com.

With Grainger averaging a 47% increase in conversion rates for products that have 360° images, it’s highly likely that you will see a positive ROI for your company, and of course, Grainger will be in better position to see more revenue due to your effort.
